Residents living in Tinkers Green and Kerria have been given a sneak peek at major redevelopment plans for both estates.
The regeneration of the estates, located in Wilnecote and Amington, is a long-term project which will see approximately £21.5 million invested.
“We want to keep residents fully informed throughout the process and were very pleased that so many people came along to the two drop-in events, with the vast majority of them showing their support for the plans.”
A total of 136 homes will be demolished in a six-year programme which will see the building of modern homes which enhance the local area.
The initial plans for the estates were first shown to residents at a series of events in July last year, where they were given the chance to discuss them with architects and council officers involved in the project.
The feedback from the earlier consultation was used in the creation of the preferred options, with the views of residents taken into account.
Nearly 70 residents came along to view the plans for the preferred options recently – 48 in Tinkers Green and 20 in Kerria – with the majority of them giving the plans their support.
An application for outline planning permission is now expected to be submitted in late February, following approval by the Council’s Cabinet. Once proposals are developed, there will be another opportunity for stakeholders to comment on the plans through the planning process.
